Traffic police numbers fall 29% in 10 years
Traffic police are crucial to ensuring that road traffic law is enforced and illegal driving is minimised. Unfortunately figures obtained by the chair of the All Party Cycling Group, Julian Huppert MP, reveal that the number of police has collapsed in the last decade.

CTC Witches’ Curse Challenge Ride & Sportive - 9 September 2012
The Witches’ Curse is definitely one for the climbers and don’t let the distances fool you. The long route may only be 68 miles but it contains over 7,500 feet of climbing. The shorter 45 mile route still has nearly 5,000 feet of climbing which is much more than your average longer distance event.

New figures on local cycle use are "a powerful tool for measuring progress"
CTC has welcomed new figures showing how much walking and cycling is being done regularly around England by adults. This data, now being collected thanks to CTC's campaigning, will soon prove invaluable for measuring which local authorities are successfully raising cycle use locally.

CTC says latest road safety figures are a wake-up call to Government
New quarterly road casualty figures reinforce the bad news of other similar figures from recent months, not just for cyclists but for motorcyclists and pedestrians too. However, without quarterly data on cycle use, the change in level of risk is unknown.

CTC supports Sefton & West Lancs VISIT Project
The VISIT Project is a partnership project between Sefton and West Lancashire Councils with support from Community Voluntary Services and CTC. The project will encourage cycling to tourist attractions and leisure cycling.

He's back! CTC member comes second in World Cycle Race
Richard Dunnett set off from Greenwich in February 2012, along with several other competitors, to take part in the first World Cycle Racing Grand Tour. The winner, Mike Hall, finished several weeks ago but on Saturday 7 July 2012, Richard came home in second place.

Merlin Cycles, Sensa Bikes support Witches' Curse Sportive
The inaugural Witches' Curse Sportive on September 9th welcomes Merlin Cycles and Sensa Bikes as sponsor for 2012. The event, which starts in Clitheroe, Lancashire, offers riders 7,500 ft of ascent on the longer 68 mile route.
