Advanced Maintenance

When bike specific tools are needed, this course kicks in.
Advanced Maintenance
Key Content: 

This course includes:

  • Personal safety, tool and chemical handling
  • Degrease, clean and lubricate
  • Brakes - caliper adjustment, hydraulic brake bleeding
  • Gears - Cable replacement, lubrication, mech removal, replacement and positioning
  • Transmission - Chainset, pedal, chainring and bottom bracket removal and replacement
  • Transmission - Cassette and freehub removal and replacement
  • Headset - a headset strip, lube and refit
  • Wheels - trailside wheel truing; disc removal and replacement
  • Lubrication - all items stripped and replaced through the course
  • Wear and tear - managing your bike and extending component life

Please note that this course does not cover suspension maintenance, headset fitting or frame / thread facing or cutting

This course can form part of a three courses in two days Maintenance Course Suite comprising the Road and Trailside Maintenance, Advanced Maintenance and Fleet Maintenance courses.

Velo's main premises “The Velo Store” in Stone will provide the base for CTC's education courses, from maintenance using the in-house, state of the art facilities to ride leaders. Cycles are available to hire and specialised equipment needed can be provided for all courses and advice given on suitability of products for specific tasks.
