Cycle training for adults
Starting at any level from the complete beginner to the experienced cyclist.
1 to 1 adult cycle training is tailored to meet your needs. Your instructor will listen to you, assess your current level and help you progress to ride the routes you would like to.
Choosing a National Standard / Bikeability Instructor means that you are getting high quality training from a fully qualified and accredited instructor who has the skills to help you develop into a competent and confident cyclist.
The National Standard
- Level 1 - conducted in a controlled environment away from roads and traffic. Basic cycle control skills including, starting and pedalling, stopping, manoeuvring, signalling and using gears.
- Level 2 - On-road training for those who have completed Level 1 and are ready to progress; it gives real cycling experience and makes you feel safer and capable of dealing with traffic on short journeys
- Level 3 - Cyclists reaching the Level 3 standard will be able to deal with all types of road conditions and more complex situations. The course covers dealing with hazards, making ‘on-the-move’ risk assessments and planning routes for safer cycling.
The cost of training for adults varies from one area to another, depending on the subsidy available.
