Like to shop by bike? Get involved in CycleLogistics!
You may have heard about CTC's involvement in the CycleLogistics project via Cycle Magazine.
We are looking for 100 people who are prepared to start shopping by bike. If you don't currently (or very rarely) use your bike for shopping trips, this is your chance to get a reward for giving it a try.
What do you need to do?
You'll need to shop by bike at least once a week over a period of 4 weeks, and after the trial period we'll ask you to return a brief questionnaire about your experience. We are offering a £20 Wiggle voucher for the first 100 people wishing to participate. We would also be happy to offer advice on suitable equipment.
The aims of CycleLogistics
The overall aims of CycleLogistics are to promote the movement of personal goods such as our weekly shopping by bicycle, as well as replacing van deliveries and services with cargo bikes in and around our towns and cities.
Here's why: currently 57% of all inner-city trips are related to goods transportation in some way, and nearly all of these trips are made by motorised vehicle. Research also shows that only 6% of all shopping trips are of a size that requires a car (ARGUS 2009), with most consumer goods being easily transportable on a bike using baskets, panniers or a trailer.
