Around 1000 visitors flocked to the Dalby Open Day.  Many families came to experience a great day of cycling on traffic-free routes; others had come to ride the trails for Dalby 13 a demo day where visitors could try out new 2013 style bikes and kit.

Visitors were allowed to test -ride the RC325.5 EXC mountain bike and try out the  ‘Dalby-proof’ brake pads. Qualified cycle technicians were on hand to give advice and fix and service bikes.

CTC Cycling Development Officer for Dalby Forest, Mike Hawtin said: "The atmosphere was buzzing with the enthusiasm of the public, and our car park was absolutely packed! Having tracked our sales of day passes I am certain we will be seeing more of our visitors again.”

CTC taster courses

The taster courses proved to be extremely popular too. CTC provides a full range of courses at Dalby Bike Barn, including specialist courses and led-rides.

We both really enjoyed the session - our instructor was great and gave us a few pointers to work on over the 2 hours which were really good to focus on and practice. I can't think of anything that I think should be improved, it seems like you have a really good set up here!”

The venue is CTC's national centre of excellence, so the open day was a great opportunity to invite cyclists to see why CTC courses offer the best tuition and support.

CTC will be running a range of courses starting from introductory level for the less experienced rider through to technical skills courses and leader training for those looking to make a career out of their love of cycling.

We all had a lovely day on Saturday, Gill our instructor was very
patient and knowledgeable - we all picked up some really useful tips.”
