The Bicycle Icycle

Type:
Local Group Event (inc DATC and Audax Rides)
Cost:
£2.00

Portsmouth: Easy ride

These rides are a great way to start group cycling. Typically we spend two to three hours cycling with a break for coffee and cake somewhere on the way. We don’t do big hills and we try to keep to quiet roads or cycle paths where we can.

Portsmouth: Sunday Morning ride

These are designed to appeal to people who want to explore the local countryside by bike, with a sociable group at a medium pace. They start from one of three different locations to the North of the City and last for about 3 hours, plus the mandatory stop for coffee and cake of course!

Portsmouth: Faster Sunday ride

All day rides at a faster pace than our other rides. They leave from Cosham library. The rides usually stop for elevenses, lunch and tea. New riders are welcome but, if you are new to group riding, one of our other rides would be a better starting point.

Portsmouth: Wednesday ride

The full ride usually leaves from the Spring Centre, Havant and stops for elevenses, lunch and, sometimes, afternoon tea. Some riders go to elevenses and come back from there. Others meet us at the coffee stop. We often split the ride with the more energetic group taking a longer and/or hillier route.

Portsmouth: Saturday ride

The full ride usually leaves from the Spring Centre, Havant and stops for elevenses, lunch and, sometime, afternoon tea.  Some riders go to elevenses ad come back from there.  Others meet us at the coffee stop.  We often split the ride with the more energetic group taking a longer and/or hillier route.

CTC condemns rising cyclists' death toll in London.

CTC, the national cycling charity demands action on cyclists’ safety in London after fifth cyclist is killed in ten days on the capital’s roads.

In a week where the total number of cyclists killed in London this year rose to a staggering 13, 8 of which were involved in collisions with lorries, CTC is calling for major changes to be made to the design of lorries, to the design of major junctions and to driver training, to avert more unnecessary deaths.
