CTC in England

Introductory Ride

One of an occasional series of figure 8 introductory rides, with a 20 mile morning loop with a mid morning cafe stop and returning to a cafe near Derby for lunch.  Followed by an afternoon 20 mile loop.

Routes mainly on lanes with some well surfaced off road sections and only short stretches om main road where unavoidable.  Fairly flat and at an easy pace.  All welcome, if you'd like to know more please contact ctcdab@gmail.com

A great day out cycling 100km in the New Forest National Park. Start and Finish at Lymington Community Centre. This is not an expensive “Sportif”. We are local cyclists of CTC Wessex Cycling and present an on-road cycle ride around the New Forest on minor country roads. You will cross many cattle grids and meet plenty of livestock too!

Eroica Britannia: a ride for heroes

This weekend 20-21 June, Bakewell in the Peak District will step back in time as thousands of cyclists with a love for steel and wool take to the hills for the three-day festival of cycling Eroica Britannia. CTC staff and volunteers will be on hand to help out.
Eroica Britannia

The original L’Eroica sprang from the Tuscan hills of the Chianti region back in 1997 as local Italian cyclists sought to preserve the strade bianche (literally the 'white streets', which in reality are chalky white gravel roads) from being tarmacked over. This ride saw 92 riders set off on steel steeds (pre-1987) in woollen vintage outfits, and from these humble beginnings a legend in the amateur international cycling calendar was born.
