Neil has been volunteering at Give it a Spin Live!@New Scene in Cheshire for many years and feels that helping at the centre has helped to boost his confidence and to keep him physically active.
After losing his Mum in 1988, and following a few incidents whilst cycling on the road, Neil started to lose confidence and had some difficulty in social situations. Then, a support worker who knew he liked cycling suggested that he attend the inclusive cycling sessions at Give it a Spin Live!@New Scene.
Southern Saturday Afternoon Ride, every week from The Reservoir Pub, Earlswood, Warwickshire. Check the calendar and ride update sections of our Website before setting off: http://www.ctc-heartofengland.org.uk/
You are invited to register for our popular early season event which will be held on Sunday 29th March from Farndon near Chester.
It is a 50 mile course through quiet Cheshire lanes and over the Welsh border. The challenge is to ride it in either 4 or 5 hours and eat our generous lunch within that time slot. For those that would like a more sociable pace, there is also a shorter 50k route.
CTC affiliated project, Sheffield Cycling 4 All, has won Cycle Sheffield's 'Grassroots Cycling Initiative the Year' award. This is great news for the project, and is a just reward for the hard work of the new steering group formed back in April 2014.
The all-ability cycling project in Sheffield, originally part of the Cycle Champions Programme, was set up and delivered by Steve Marsden in 2010. The project offered people with disabilities the opportunity to ride a wide array of adapted bikes in the safe surroundings of the city's Hillsborough Park.
This is an easy social ride, people simply meet, ride, enjoy, chat, learn and become more confident - this ride will finish at Tandem Coffee House for those who fancy a chat, drink and a cake in lovely surroundings with great company
