Pedalling through the barriers to cycling

Lorraine Stone, our Fundraising Officer, writes about her journey back to cycling, thanks to a CTC project with her local council.
Advice during cycle training

Being somewhat of a scaredy cat, and living on a rather off-putting 'Big Hill', I admit to being a lapsed cyclist. Living only a short walk (downhill!) to my local town, not possessing a cycle carrier for our car, and residing around 25 miles (along a very busy ‘A’ road) from my place of work, are just some of the excuses I've trotted out to preserve the status quo.

Freshers' cycle training after call from Oxford MP to improve safety for students

Oxford University freshers to get free cycle training as CTC answers MP’s call at the ‘Get Britain Cycling’ debate
Riders on a street

During last week’s well-attended cycling debate in Parliament, Oxford West and Abingdon MP Nicola Blackwood questioned the lack of cycle training for students coming to the city and cycling for the first time on unfamiliar roads.

After campaigning with other cycling organisations for the debate, and the recent ‘Cycling Revolution’ cash announced by David Cameron, CTC the national cycling charity, has offered to help.

Three people pedalling cargo bikes

Various organisations are joining forces to help launch an innovative project that hopes to increase the number of Brentford businesses using cargo bikes to deliver their goods and services. The project, Brentford Bikes, will make available three Christiania cargo bikes for a three month period during a pilot phase; these can be used by local businesses free of charge.
