Success for local campaigners in Wendover

1 March 2012
The first cycle route to be installed in Wendover for five years was opened in the small Buckinghamshire town at the beginning of March.
Success for local campaigners in Wendover

This came after years of hard work and a final ferocious fight from local people and cycling campaigners, including local CTC volunteers, to ensure the parish council kept their promise of investment in cycling in the area.

Peter Hardy, Cabinet Member for Buckinghamshire County Council opened the route with a celebratory bike ride by children from local schools. An impressive swell of public support saw the route being saved after a last minute attempt to prevent £300,000 of investment in the local town, which is already suffering from car congestion and parking problems.

Bewl Water, Kent

The 12½ mile Round Reservoir Route is open to walkers all year round and to cycles and horses during the drier months. The track passes through beautiful countryside of species rich woodland and meadow and, for part of the route, takes to quiet country lanes to circumnavigate the Nature Reserve

Alice Holt Forest, Hampshire

Whatever your ability there’s something for everyone at Alice Holt. Our 3 mile cycle trail is suitable for both children and adults, offering all the family a chance to explore further into the forest.  Whilst on the trail, why not take a break halfway round at one of our picnic sites or even a short detour to Lodge Pond; definitely not to be missed! This large medieval pond is a wonderful location for relaxing and the variety of bird life there, from great crested grebes, moorhens, herons and mallard ducks amongst many others, will delight bird watchers.

Regulations and standards affect the specifications of bikes (and other configurations of pedal cycles) that can be sold and used on the roads.
