A true celebration of all things cycling, the Brompton Cycling Festival at Goodwood Motor Circuit on the 26 & 27 July 2014, is an experience for everyone.

In its second year and a new name Brompton cycling festival is promising to be bigger and better, with stands from your favourite bike, cycle clothing and curio retailers, as well as the chance to take part in the Brompton World Championships and explore the gorgeous West Sussex countryside. It’s a fantastic opportunity to volunteer to support a wonderful summer’s weekend event packed with attractions, cycling races, meanders, entertainment and much more.

To become a Brompton Cycle Festival volunteer is easy....

The volunteer opportunities include:

Circuit Marshals                                                                                                               

  • Monitor a particular area of the circuit during racing
  • Set up and clear track as required pre/post race
  • Be aware of spectator actions
  • Will be paired with a member of Goodwood track marshal team

Finish Marshals

  • Set up / clear finish area including product (food/drink)
  • Ensure riders receive food and drink if required
  • Remove time chip from riders
  • Ensure riders keep exits clear

Crossing Marshals   

  • To ensure the safe passage of pedestrians at crossing points
  • Communicate to pedestrians and riders to warn of crossing
  • Inform participants of correct area of event village; bike racking, info desk etc

Barrier Marshals

  • To ensure non-entry of vehicles through barriered points
  • Inform participants of correct area of event village; bike racking, info desk etc

Event Village Marshals

  • Assist with participant enquiries
  • Manage ticketing system (left luggage)
  • Manage crossing point (event entry marshals)
  • Inform participants of correct area of event village; bike racking, info desk etc

Expo Marshals

  • Assist expo manager with direction of exhibitors to plots
  • Ensure safe access & egress to/from site of exhibitor vehicles and personnel (set up / clearance only)
  • During event, answer questions from exhibitors regarding power, water, Internet access etc

Event Control Marshals

  • Assist radio manager with reporting of incidents
  • General assist to race manager during event
  • Monitor radio channel as required
  • Answer event control phone

All volunteers will be provided with expenses for refreshments. Accommodation (camping) will also be provided should you wish to volunteer for more than 1 day.

Volunteers will be given time to explore the festival and and enjoy the activities. You will also receive a Brompton Cycling Festival T-shirt and other free festival goodies.

Free bike or car parking will be available for volunteers. We cannot provide remuneration for travel.

If you would rather come along and take part in the celebrations, CTC, as charity partner for the event, has negotiated a specially discounted entry fee for selected events for people who choose to fundraise for CTC. If you would like some more information about raising money for CTC, click here.
