NSPCC Tour of England Series 2014

NSPCC volunteer ride leaders
CTC partners NSPCC Tour of England to provide mechanical support

CTC is partnering the NSPCC Tour of England cycle series this year and, through its team of mobile mechanics. will be supporting participants raising funds to help vulnerable children.

If you are a qualified bike mechanic, this is the chance to experience a direct support role in a simulated professional racing environment by volunteering as a mobile mechanic in the Tour of England Series. Volunteer roles are only available for the Tour of England Yorkshire stages now.

You will shadow the riders in a vehicle as they traverse the 90-mile stages and offer immediate technical support to any problems they may encounter, so they can continue with the ride and return to the peloton as rapidly as possible. This is an incredibly energetic, engaging and hands-on opportunity to experience and be part of a professional racing simulation.

If you would like to volunteer for this role, simply fill in the 'Volunteer Now' form.

Volunteers will receive the following in return for their support:

  • Accommodation for the Saturday night
  • A place in the 'Yellow Jersey Dinner', hosted on the Saturday night for all participants and volunteers, featuring a delicious menu, fundraising auction, and guest speaker
  • Food & refreshments throughout the event
  • NSPCC Tour of England polo shirt
  • and more...

Additionally, should you choose, you can opt to use your own vehicle for the event to traverse the course shadowing riders (fuel costs will be reimbursed).

This year the NSPCC Tour of England Series of Sportives is coming to South East England and Yorkshire. Riders will tackle tough, multi-stage 180-mile sportives in large pelotons through Kent, Surrey, and Yorkshire in a simulated mockup of a professional race environment, which will include motorcycle outriders and competing cycling teams.

The NSPCC Tour of England Series comprises  these two separate events:

1) NSPCC Tour of the South East, 7th - 8th June 2014:
