A series of neighbourhood cycle rides are being launched as part of the European Cycle Challenge , aimed at seeing which city rides the most. The rides, which are aimed at families*, will include refreshments and bike polo.
Ride 1 (Prospect Park to Mapledurham)
Time: 10am - 12 noon
The ride will start from Prospect Park and will used a combination of cycle paths and quiet roads to Mapledurham. Upon arrival to the destination, the participants will take a break and refreshments will be provided.
Ride 2 (Palmer Park - Dinton Pastures)
Time: 10am - 12 noon
The ride will start from Palmer Park Sports Stadium and will used a combination of cycle paths and quiet roads to Dinton Pastures. Upon arrival to the destination the participants will take a break and refreshment will be provided.
Ride 3 (WhitFest – Northumberland Ave to Cintra Park)
Time: 10.30am - 12 noon
The ride will start from the Advice shop on Northumberland Ave and will be the start of WhitFest used a combination of cycle paths and quiet roads to Dinton Pastures.
Ride 4 (Rivermead Sports Festival)
Time: 11.00am – 12.30pm
The ride will be in partnership with a sports day in which participants will be encouraged to try a variety of sports, people will engage in a taster session. Once the taster session has transpired the participants will engage on a led ride to the Mapledurham locks.
Refreshments will be provided at each of the events.

*Children should be aged 7 and above and be able to demonstrate Level One Bikeability skills.
Bikeability instructors deliver the After School Cycle sessions at Palmer Park on Monday’s and Thursdays between 4.30pm and 5:30pm.

Participants can track their journeys with the free Endomondo App, or via the website, and challenge other European cities.
