The Trax Off Road Racing Club in Tottenham has been awarded a Bike Club grant to encourage young people in the area to take up cycling.
The superb new Lordship Loop BMX and MTB pump track, will be looked after by Haringey Council through The Trax who are holding a Launch Event.
Daniel Mintz of The Trax says:
“The Trax mountain bike and BMX club are delighted to invite the local community of Tottenham and London, the wider bike community and all our members, friends and family to the official launch of The Lordship Loop bike park on Saturday, 3 December, from 10 am onwards.”
There will be lots of cycling activities for young people and their families, including the chance to ride the whole track.
Young people can have a go from 12pm onwards and all ages from 1pm, after the amazing Rowan Sorrell and his Back on Track Team show how the Loop can be ridden at the top skill level, at 11am.
There will be a Dr Bike by the London Cycling Campaign for those whose bikes need a check over or a bit of TLC. There will be plenty more besides!
The Bike Club grant will help The Trax increase the number of young people riding the Loop. Well qualified coaches who work as volunteers for the Trax and love the sport, will train the young people to get the most out of riding the Loop as well as offering the chance to have a go at off road racing. The Trax has also attained Go Ride status.
The Trax initiative will bring lots of new young people to cycling, improving their health, education and sense of community in a very safe environment which will appeal to their parents.
Frances Chaloner the Bike Club Officer for London says:
“The Trax initiative will bring lots of new young people to cycling, improving their health, education and sense of community in a very safe environment which will appeal to their parents. In addition, it will help support a fabulous new off road facility, maximising the use of a valuable community resource. The long term sustainability of the project and the large number of young people the Trax Bike Club will benefit, impressed the Bike Club Consortium and secured a Bike Club Grant. I am looking forward to supporting The Trax Bike Club, as their Bike Club Officer, over their first year of activities at Lordship Loop.”
London Bike Club and CTC will have a stall and officers to chat to at the event, so why not pop along, enjoy the activities and find out more about Lordship Loop and The Trax.
