We talk to Christian Newsome, the founder of Hit the Hills.
What is Hit the Hills?
Hit the Hills offers catered weekends in the best mountain biking locations in the UK.
How do you do that?
We take over great venues such as bunkhouses, cottages and guest houses for the weekend and provide exclusive use for guests. These venues are well-placed to access the best mountain biking in the area from the door. We cover the Lakes, Dales, Peaks and Snowdonia. We can also do other locations on request.
Do guests need a guide?
We have extensive local trail knowledge to help you plan your routes, so if you can use a map you will be fine. These cycle routes are published on our website. We can also provide GPX files or if you prefer, sort out a guide at an additional cost.
What food is included?
All the food you'll need for a weekend is included in the price: breakfast and packed lunch Saturday and Sunday; two-course dinner Friday and three-course dinner Saturday; and afternoon tea on Saturday. There is also free tea and coffee on offer all weekend so you can relax in between riding and enjoy our extensive bike magazine library too!
Who does the cooking?
I do! I used to be a chef, working as a chalet host in the French Alps and in a few kitchens including a famous Michelin Star Restaurant in West Yorkshire. So I am able to create great menus for hungry cyclists. The food is all locally-sourced and prepared on the premises. It's a hearty blend of Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey recipes.
How much does it cost?
Prices start at £95 for a fully-catered weekend. Group discounts are available as well as activity weekends, stag & hen parties; team building and corporate trips. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
CTC members will receive a 10% discount at Hit the Hills .
