Components 101: Bottom Bracket
A bottom bracket is the axle that runs through connecting one crank arm to the other through the lower part of the frame called the ‘shell’. The bottom bracket comprises of an axle and a set of bearings to make pedaling a smooth action. They are available in different types, sizes and diameters so it is really important that your bottom bracket, frame and cranks are all compatible in order to work properly and efficiently.
