Reading is taking part in the European Cycling Challenge 2014!

Reading is participating in the 2014 European Cycling Challenge
The European Cycling Challenge 2014 starts on 1 May, and the people of Reading are gearing up for it!

Reading will be taking part in the European Cycle Challenge between 1 and 31 May, along with 31 other towns and cities, including Barcelona, Bologna, Bristol, Groningen and Oslo. The city that “rides” the longest total distance wins!

Participants can track their journeys with the free Endomondo App, or via the website, and challenge other European cities. The Challenge is open to all people living in participating cities, or travelling to/from those cities for work, study or other reasons. To register to take part in the Challenge, visit: www.ecc2014.eu.

A number of cycle activities are being organised to support the Challenge, including neighbourhood rides, bike polo sessions, bike breakfasts, bling-your-bike and Dr Bike sessions. Other cycling sessions will continue to be offered at Palmer Park, including the After School Cycling Club, Everybody Active and Cycling for Health.

Why not come along for a neighbourhood led ride aimed at families, including refreshments and bike polo? Rides will take place from:

  • Prospect Park to Mapledurham
  • LockPalmer Park to Dinton Pastures
  • Christchurch Meadows Treasure Hunt/Ride
  • South Reading WhitFest Ride

More information on supporting events and prizes is available here.
