2013 Orbital Cycling Festival at Goodwood

Orbital Festival
On 26-28 July, on the weekend following the finish of the 100th Tour de France, CTC will be at the first Orbital Cycling Festival, at Goodwood Motor Circuit, near Chichester.

The Orbital Festival will be a celebration of all things pedal-powered with attractions and events for riders of all ages, abilities and disciplines.

The Paddock Expo will sit right next to the race track and provide distraction from the racing with the latest bikes, apparel, parts and accessories on show.

Under 5s

Appreciating that many cycling events are enjoyable for some members of the family but not others, the organisers have designed the Orbital Cycling Festival with something to do for everyone. There will be balance bikes for the under-5's and the kids will be totally safe and contained in an inflatable play track.

All-inclusive cycling

Cyclists of all abilities will feel completely at home in the riding environment at Orbital Cycling Festival. Priority parking for those with disabilities, or riders in recovery, is offered right next to the race track.

If bicycle racing is not for you, there will be family rides around the Goodwood Motor Circuit on both Saturday and Sunday.

When the cross racing is not taking place you'll be able to take a relaxed amble around the safe, traffic free perimeter track with its selection of viewing platforms and picnic sites.

There will be a comprehensive race schedule running from Friday evening's Road Race to Sunday afternoon's family rides.

The Animal Bike Tour will be the headline act located right in the centre of the Paddock Expo and delivering their super slick trials riding and tricks throughout the weekend, featuring trails legend Martyn Ashton and rising star, Blake Samson.

A demo track will be located right in the middle of the action for everyone to try out the latest bikes and kit. Matti Hemmings will be bringing his flatland BMX skills and also doing workshops for kids looking to learn some new moves.

Whatever your ability or experience, whether your bike is a £10,000 carbon race weapon or a £100 bargain, everyone is welcome to have a go at racing on a safe closed road circuit - all you need is some air in your tyres and a helmet on your head.

There will be racing events to suit riders of all ages - Youth to Veteran - and all abilities, from complete novices to Olympic champions.

The current schedule includes keirin, eliminator race, 20km time trial, road race, scratch race, sprints, off-road cross race, fixed gear criterium and an urban style paddock race.

Camping

The Orbital Cycling Festival camping site is just a a few hundred yards from the Goodwood Motor Circuit and is the ideal place to pitch your tent or park up your camper van for the weekend. After a relaxed breakfast you can ride to the circuit and watch the early bird racers and enjoy the rest of the day in two wheeled heaven. With up to 600 pitches available there is capacity for around 3000 people. On-site toilets and hot showers will be provided plus 24- hour security.
