2 million potholes repaired last year
Potholes are a huge concern of cyclists on rural lanes
Over £100m was spent filling potholes in England and Wales last year, and over £15m paid out in compensation to those injured or their vehicles damaged, according to new figures from the Annual Local Authority Road Maintenance survey, published today.

Cyclist killed due to pothole, says coroner
Hazardous road surface around a drain - similar to that hit by Martyn Uzzell
The cyclist, Martyn Uzzell, hit the pothole in North Yorkshire, and was thrown into the path of an oncoming car. His widow called on the local authority to repair the roads properly in advance of the arrival of le Tour de France in 2014.

CTC urges MPs to demand action and funding to ‘Get Britain Cycling’
CTC, the national cycling charity, will urge MPs to demand leadership, commitment to quality cycling conditions, and funding of at least £10 per person annually, to ‘Get Britain Cycling’ when giving evidence at today’s Commons Transport Select Committee inquiry on cycle safety.
