CTC Chief Executive Gordon Seabright and CTC Campaigns and Policy Director Roger Geffen joined the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group for the annual ride in central London this week.

Together with Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport, Norman Baker, 20 MPs and Peers cycled the 3 mile ride from the London Transport Museum to Parliament.

The group got a fantastic send off by the 1948 Olympic medallist, Tommy Godwin now aged 92, who encouraged all the riders to get behind Bike Week and the Samsung Hope Relay Challenge.

Samsung Bike Week is the UK’s biggest mass participation cycling event, with almost half a million people getting involved. The aim is to promote cycling for everyone and to get more people cycling, more often.

Samsung Bike Week will be a great reason for people to get cycling and get fit during the summer. I’ve been training hard ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games, but everyone can get involved in cycling regardless of ability and Samsung Hope Relay brings with it the opportunity to raise money for some incredible charities.”

Double World Track Cycling Champion Laura Trott

Samsung Bike Week is great for both total novices and experienced cyclists. There A massive incentive to re-discover the joy of two wheels this summer is because Samsung, the Worldwide Olympic Partner, will donate £1 to charity for every mile cycled during Bike Week.

Getting involved is easy - simply download the free Samsung Hope Relay app from www.samsung.com/uk/bikeweek  and raise money for charities such as London-based Kids Company and London 2012's international sports legacy programme, International Inspiration.

Bike Week events offer something for everyone; from families, schools and companies, to seasoned cyclists and those who have never cycled before. To find a Bike Week event near you visit www.bikeweek.org.uk

The official Samsung Bike Week will take place 16-24 June 2012.
