A telegram from the Queen might be enough for most people but CTC member Les Brown decided to mark his 100th birthday with a bike ride.

Ton up - Les celebrates his 100th birthday in style

CTC Life Member Les Brown doesn't let age get in the way of his passion for cycling so his friend and fellow CTC Life member Tom Hanley decided to organise a special celebration ride for him when he turned 100 years old on 1 September.

The pair, who rode an unusual tandem-trike, were joined for the occasion by around 25 other cyclists and friends for the ride from Lochmaben to Dalton Pottery, where they enjoyed a well-deserved slice of birthday cake.

Les's nephew and great nephew, David and Matthew Brown, drove up from Leeds earlier that morning, to be part of the celebration too.

Happy Birthday Les – and many more of them!
