Cycling in the sun from Riverside
Welcome to Chelmsford Chainlinks. We’re a group who got cycling thanks to a project run by CTC with the support of Chelmsford and Essex Councils. Most of us hadn’t cycled for years but CTC looked after us and encouraged us as we progressed each week.

Cycling in the City

CTC’s cycle rides are open to all and you are guaranteed a friendly welcome. We take it gently and always have a chance to chat and stop for a coffee. Join us and discover some of the nice, quiet routes in the City and the countryside around.

We’ve linked up with a great new project – WoMEn Time and will be encouraging lots more women to enjoy the relaxed cycling we offer.

We have a new meeting point this year at the Cake on the Lake in Central Park and also have bikes available to use. Just ask beforehand. Everyone is welcome. On Tuesdays and Saturdays we offer cycle refresher sessions one hour before the ride. Again, just contact to book.

  • New: Tuesdays at 10am

  • Thursdays at 10am

  • Saturdays at 1pm

For more information contact Peter.

More CTC rides

CTC has other rides from Chelmsford, courtesy of the local members of CTC.

If you fancy more of a day out, the local group of members take people out every Sunday. They meet at Fairfield Road, by the bus station, at 9.15 and venture further into the Essex countryside. But don’t worry. They don’t go fast and always stop for elevenses and find a friendly place for a spot of lunch. More information.

Become a city slicker in Chelmsford

You don't have to miss out if you're not confident. CTC runs learn to ride confidence sessions and bike maintenance classes, aimed at people who want to learn the basics of looking after their own bike.

The beginner sessions cover:

  • Tips on maintaining your bike
  • The basics of brakes
  • A full run-down of fixing a puncture – and you get to have a go (promise I can do it so anyone can)

Basic plus sessions are aimed at people that can already fix a puncture and just want more of an introduction to brakes and gears.
