The CTC are the lead partner for a Local Sustainable Transport Fund project aimed at encouraging more visitors to travel to the Chilterns by rail and to increase cycling within the Chilterns as an alternative to the car.

We're organising a variety of activities throughout 2014 for children, adults, local residents and visitors to the area, aimed at encouraging people to get out on their bikes more. (See below.)

Join one of our new Health Rides starting in Great Missenden from the end of May until the end of June. A great way to get back into cycling. Twyford Station Pop-up Shop - "Station Cycle Solutions"
In partnership with Bainton Bikes and First Great Western we are supporting a pop-up shop at Twyford train station. The new venture, 'Station Cycle Solutions' will operate once a week to start with offering bicycle repairs and plan to expand into sales, hire and more and increase the number of days they attend the station.
Dr Bike Sessions
Our programme of free Dr Bike sessions will continue throughout the summer so pop down and get your bike tuned up and safe to ride. Full details of all sessions are listed on our "Events" page. Upcoming Dr Bike/Pop-up Shop sessions:

Summer Holiday Bikeability Training
We are running more free Bikeability training in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire during the Easter holidays. Both Bikeability Level 1 and Level 2 will be available during the week with a total of four sessions planned in Amersham, Berkhamsted, Chesham and Tring.
We'll be attending the Herts County Show, Bucks County Show and the Chiltern Countryside and Food Festival throughout the year with a Shoretrax portable MTB track for kids and adults to try out along with information, competitions and giveaways. Come and see us! Read more...
Offroad and Mountain Biking in the Chilterns - Rides and Skills Training
Local CTC affiliate club BucksMTB have organised some "Mountain bike rides for all" throughout the summer aimed at beginners and families. We'll also be organising some mountain bike skills courses for children on our new "Aston Hill pumptrack" Details will be announced soon, keep an eye on our website for dates.
Tour of Britain in the Chilterns
On Friday 12th September, stage 6 of the Tour of Britain will pass through the Chilterns AONB and finish in Hemel Hempstead. A variety of events will take place across the Chilterns around this time. Details will be announced over the summer.
The Brewery Rides
A series of rides based around some of the fantastic, traditional English breweries in the Chilterns.

Cycle Routes and Itineraries
We have a list of cycling routes on the Routes page of our new website. Over the coming months the Cycle Chilterns team will be developing more on and off road cycle routes and suggested route itineraries for a range of abilities. There are already a variety of excellent cycle routes in the area, some of which are signposted and some that can be followed using detailed maps and leaflets.
A list of existing cycle routes and downloadable leaflets is available on the Chilterns AONB website. Local authority websites and local groups also provide information for cyclists and are a good source of cycle routes in the surrounding areas.
