About The Group
The Sheffield District CTC Member Group was formed in 1912 and covers the whole of South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire. In Doncaster, weekly rides leave the Cenotaph on Bennetthorpe at 09:00 each Sunday morning to a variety places and usually return by late afternoon. Along with this the Doncaster group hold occasional social events and an annual fixed centre cycling holiday in the UK.
In Sheffield, Sunday rides are also held every week and they can vary from moderate 35 to 50 miles or longer miles in mid summer. These rides start from various locations on the edge of the city usually at 09:30. The Sheffield group also arrange Saturday half day easy rides (15-25 miles) into the neighbouring countryside also from various locations starting at 09:00, these rides are organised fortnightly from Spring to Autumn. Also between Spring and Autumn on a Wednesday evening, the Sheffield group arrange pub rides, these are normally around twenty miles to country pubs and usually start at 6.30 pm from edge of the city locations. Additionally, the Sheffield group arrange several popular hostel weekends each year, recent destinations have included, Lincolnshire, the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire, North Wales and Belgium. Social events, including film and slide shows are held monthly during the winter months.
