Newent Cycling Group

We are a friendly group based in the small market town of Newent in rural Gloucestershire close to the Herefordshire border.  We have beautiful countryside and quiet lanes perfect for cycling in all directions.

In autumn and winter on every other weekend (alternating between Saturdays and Sundays) we enjoy easy-paced rides of around 25 to 30 miles, beginning at 10am and arriving back in Newent at about 2pm.  The ride destination is decided by the group on the day, dependent on factors such as the weather and which cafe we want to head to.

In the spring and summer we try to arrange a ride every Thursday evening of around 15 to 20 miles, meeting at 7pm, the route is decided on the day, finishing for a drink at The Kings Arms

We also run occasional weekend rides with a pre-determined route and destination which will be advertised on the rides list.  Past rides have included a route to visit churches in the surrounding villages, a springtime ride along the lanes festooned with little wild daffodils, to a local fruit farm to pick strawberries, Gloucester docks along quiet backroads and to a pub on the Severn to enjoy real ale and locally made pasties.

Rides generally start from The Kings Arms, Ross Road, Newent but check the ride details in case there is an alternative starting point.

If you are a local cyclist or are visiting the area please come and join us!
