Regional Youth Cycle Speedway racing comes to Swindon
Event Description
Event Description
Saturday 19 May will see the best of the best youths from the South and South West competing in the Regional Youth Cycle Speedway round in Swindon.
Following an extremely successful 24-hour cycle speedway challenge, which managed to raise over £1,000, the club has had the funds to completely refurbish its track at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon. A lick of paint here and a spot of resurfacing there, and the track is now suitable for national events. The first major event to be help on the new track will be the Regional Youth.
This is a family affair and spectators are encouraged to gather around the track and cheer on our local young riders. Races are short and fast and, much like its motorised equivalent, involves a fair amount of slides and spectacular crashes.
Although the event is geared towards experienced riders, it is not too late to think about getting involved in competing. Swindon Cycle Speedway trains on the track at the Oasis Leisure Centre every week. Should you find you have a natural talent - or an immense amount of confidence and lack of fear! - you could find yourself competing in this event on home turf, or at least entering a later round in the series. So what are you waiting for?
