Women Only Cycling Sessions
Every Thursday at Darley Fields, Derby
Cycling for pleasure, health and wellbeing at Darley Fields.
Come along and take part in the free cycle activities in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Cycling is an excellent way of keeping in shape helping you lose weight and get fit at the same time. That doesn’t mean you have you have to embark upon a strenuous exercise regime to feel the benefits.
The cycling activity sessions at Darley Fields are designed to be a fun, relaxed and enjoyable way to help you cycle more. Sessions are tailored to suit the individual’s needs whether you’ve never ridden a bike, haven’t cycled in years, cycle a little but would like to gain more confidence, or are a regular cyclist looking for people to cycle with; we have a session to suit. You don’t need any specialist equipment to take part; you don’t have to wear lycra and you don’t even have to own a bike as we can provide that for you.
All Thursday sessions are led by fully qualified female instructors who will be on hand at all times to give you all the advice and encouragement you need. Best of all, sessions are completely FREE.
Come along, bring a friend if you wish, and enjoy some fresh air!

Learn to Ride
9.30am –10.30am
Pre-booking required.
This is for ladies who have never ridden a bike before or are returning to cycling and sessions are run on the park in pleasant surroundings. After learning to ride, ladies will be ready to move onto the confidence session.

Confidence and Skills
11am – 12.30pm
Pre-booking required.
This session is for ladies who can ride a bike already but want to build up their confidence and learn how to use brakes and gears etc. You will also have the opportunity to learn basic bike maintenance and fixing a puncture. Sessions also take place on the park.
Short Cycle Rides
1.30pm
No booking necessary, just turn up with your bike.
Bikes can be supplied for this session but must be pre-booked. Short leisurely social rides mainly using off road paths and often visit places of interest.
- There is also a similar short ride on a Sunday morning at 9.30am from the same place, again no need to book unless a bike is needed. (Sun ride led by male and female trainers)

Pedal Back the Years
Mondays 10am
This session is for older people, men and women who want to get more mobile and active or keep active and meet new friends at the same time. The rides will be short and at a leisurely pace to suite everybody. The rides will usually go to a place of interest.
· Led by qualified male and female cycle trainers
· Easy to get on Bikes and helmets can be provided
· Sessions are free of charge

Derby Bike Ride 2010
CTC Cycle Champions Programme are linking up with the British Heart Foundation for a fun, family bike ride in the heart of the City of Derby. The event takes place on Sunday 3 October. It's a brand new circular family bike ride starting at the historic Elvaston Castle, along the river Derwent into the heart of the City of Derby. Children (under 14s) will have free entry so why not get the whole family involved.
