Since cycles were invented there have been many types and configurations. This section will explain the differences and help you decide which bike or cycle is right for you.

The common bicycle or bike, meaning two wheels, is only one of many possible configurations of pedal cycle.
Different kinds of bike suit different kinds of riding
Style means how a cycle is optimised to make it most suitable for a certain type of cycling, from a bike designed to carry loads to downhill mountain bikes for thrills and spills. Use CTC's handy guide to work out which style is best for you.
