John Foster

John Foster is a stalwart of CTC Glasgow; working quietly and efficiently to keep the member group running smoothly, since 2009.

He takes responsibility to to put together the varied annual rides programme, using his wide knowledge of local options and list of leader contacts.

John has been a regular on most bike rides in west and central Scotland since joining CTC in 1993. He often cycling considerable distances to join in.

In 2010 John initiated, organised and ran what became an annual Big Bike Day based at Chatelherault Park near Hamilton. This involved cooperation with South Lanarkshire Council and a wide range of other cycle interest groups. Last year this combined with the bigger Family Man Fun Day at Hamilton racecourse.

John has been the CTC Right-to-Ride representative in South Lanarkshire since 2007. Recently this work has included leading on moves to improve cycle tracks connecting local towns and villages.

John’s continuing and growing contributions to the renaissance of CTC Glasgow, always made pleasantly, in good time and without fuss, encapsulate the best of the CTC tradition to promote enjoyable local cycling and companionship.
