The Reading Bikeability course for schools is designed specifically to suit the Reading road environment. It is aimed at all year 5, 6 and 7 school pupils.

Key content

Reading Bikeability is a fun and safe way of learning to cycle on Reading's roads.

Courses

Level 1 & 2 course: this is two whole days long it begins in the playground and moves out on to quiet roads.

Children learn:

  • Cycling skills
  • How to interact with traffic
  • How cycling can be incorporated into everyday life.

Level 3 course (follow-up): For Y6 and 7 pupils who have passed level 2. This is one school day long and trains children to ride on busier roads and through-routes. It is ideal for trainees who wish to commute by bike.

Instructors

Instructors are professionally trained and CRB checked, and they are all experienced in delivering high quality and safe tuition - and it's fun too! Participants will learn a lot and understand how cycling can be incorporated into their lives.

Bike and helmet - if you have not got one or the other, please speak to your course organiser or instructor in advance, if at all possible.
