Keeping busy in Colchester

After a busy summer, things have remained hectic into the autumn. CTC Cycling Development Officer Richard Monk tells us what he's been up to.
Riders on a suburban street in Greenstead

We ran a very successful ride leader training day at Greenstead Community Centre. We put the trainees through their paces and had the obligatory bike checks.

We’ve also kept a busy schedule of cycle rides and learn to ride sessions.

On top of this, we held a joint cycle ride with Colchester MIND, which had a good turnout,  including a lot of new faces.

Colchester MIND charity cycle ride

CTC, the national cycling charity and Colchester MIND have joined together to help people to enjoy the health benefits of a pleasant Saturday cycle ride.

CTC are offering a range of cycle rides leaving Leisure World at 11am on Saturday 6th October.

Rides will range from a nice short trip through High Woods Country Park to a longer ride exploring the countryside around Langham and Boxted.

People are being asked to make a donation of £5 or more to MIND and each participant will get a hi-vis bag complete with some cycling goodies including a Kelloggs bike computer, courtesy of CTC Cycle Champions and Cycle Colchester.

Each of the rides will be gentle and led by experienced guides. Families are welcome and children go FREE.

People are asked to book in advance by contacting Claire Barrett on 01206 541841.

This cycle ride is just one a part of the major programme of CTC Cycle Champions cycling in Colchester and Essex. For more information, contact Richard Monk on 01206 506412 or email richard.monk@ctc.org.uk
