Mountain bike training designed for children and young people, but equally applicable to more mature riders.

When you start your first award (whichever level that might be), you get a handbook to show you how much you have already done, and what the next stages are. This helps record your experiences as well. Each time you complete a full element, or a complete award level, you receive a certificate to go with the satisfaction of success!

Cycle training for children
National Standard / Bikeability cycle training works at three levels developing cycle control, awareness and experience on the road to give young people the skills to make road journeys by bike and interact safely with modern traffic conditions.

Most cycle training (or Bikeability) for children is delivered free in schools and follows the National Standards for Cycle Training.

What is Bikeability?

Bikeability is a three tier training scheme to teach you how to cycle safety and confidently on the road with respect for other road users. The three different levels are as follows:

Deaf children in Derby learn to cycle

Deaf and hard of hearing children from all over Derbyshire have had the opportunity to cycle as part of this year's Royal School for the Deaf Summer play scheme.

The CTC Cycle Champions project provided training for two volunteers, Ellie Hill and Garry Leivers, who have gave up their own time to gain the National Standards Instructor training qualification. They have been running cycle activities with the help of a young leader Andrew for children and their siblings attending the RSD holiday play scheme. This was the third year that the play scheme has taken place and it has doubled in its popularity.
