7-Stanes Trails, Glentrool, Galloway Forest, South Scotland

Uncover the wild mood of Galloway through its wide range of gentle to exhilarating rides. Set in Galloway Forest, Glentrool offers wild windswept riding side by side with history and nature.

Choose from:
The unique 'Big Country Route' runs on minor public and forest roads without any singletrack. This route also features some magnificient views of the nearby lochs and hills.

Glentrool has two green-graded routes:

Nant yr Arian, Mid Wales

Nant-yr-Arian forest sits high on the mountains just inland from Aberystwyth, and offers stunning high-level wilderness riding. With trails heading out into the epic scenery of the Cambrian Mountains, this is a fantastic area for those who like their riding rugged. Just be prepared for everything from true mountain climbs to river crossings and technical rocky descents.

Coed Trallwn & Elan Valley, Mid Wales

This centre, established in 2003 nestles in the mountains between the Irfon valley (2 miles south) with Llanwrtyd Wells, and the Elan Valley (5 miles north) with its 5 reservoirs, both long-time mountain biking areas.

Coed Llandegla, North Wales

The Mountain Biking Centre at Coed Llandegla Forest opened in 2005 and has already proved to be extremely popular with mountain bikers from across North Wales. Covering 650 hectares, Coed Llandegla Forest is one of the largest privately-owned recreation facilities in North Wales. It is owned and managed by UPM Tilhill.

The forest has mountain biking trails suitable for beginners and family groups, more challenging routes for experienced bikers including a rollercoaster black run, a pump track, skills area and free ride area.

Afan Forest Park, South Wales

Afan offers a mountain biking experience second to none. This place has it all from flowing swooping singletrack threading through beautiful forest to exposed rocky doubletrack on wide open hills.

Forestry Commission Wales' Afan Forest Park is the fastest growing mountain bike area in Britain and located only minutes from the M4 it’s perfect for those wanting to reach a variety of fantastic riding fast. With 4 superb flowing trails and more all weather singletrack than any other MBWales centre you simply have to check it out!

Coed-y-Brenin, North Wales

Forestry Commission Wales' mountain bike Mecca, Coed-y-Brenin forest is home to an ever increasing network of fantastic handbuilt all weather singletrack including the newly refurbished 'Falseteeth' incorporating the biggest feature in the forest, 'The Cavi

Dalby Forest, North York Moors National Park

You'll find an excellent selection of trails within Dalby Forest, catering for all abilities. Cycle Hire is also available from 'Purple Mountain'.

Cannock Chase, Staffordshire

You'll find a wealth of trails at Cannock Chase, the guys and girls of 'Chase Trails' have done a fantastic job creating a series of trails for all abilities. One of the midlands most popular riding spots!

Bewl Water, Kent

The 12½ mile Round Reservoir Route is open to walkers all year round and to cycles and horses during the drier months. The track passes through beautiful countryside of species rich woodland and meadow and, for part of the route, takes to quiet country lanes to circumnavigate the Nature Reserve

Alice Holt Forest, Hampshire

Whatever your ability there’s something for everyone at Alice Holt. Our 3 mile cycle trail is suitable for both children and adults, offering all the family a chance to explore further into the forest.  Whilst on the trail, why not take a break halfway round at one of our picnic sites or even a short detour to Lodge Pond; definitely not to be missed! This large medieval pond is a wonderful location for relaxing and the variety of bird life there, from great crested grebes, moorhens, herons and mallard ducks amongst many others, will delight bird watchers.
