The Inclusive Cycle Forum is a CTC members' group with a difference because it actively works to support and encourage disabled people to use cycles.

It's not all hard work though - the Inclusive Cycle Forum also meets around the UK for inclusive rides on cycles of all kinds.

Whilst mindful of the definition of disabled used in law, the group's focus goes beyond it: Forum members also include people suffering or recovering from long-term illnesses or other health issues, plus carers and friends.

Members of the Forum have overcome barriers to enjoy cycling and this makes for some inspirational stories - Martin, for instance, who has a rare condition affecting his spine called Klippel-Feil Syndrome. Martin has a 4-wheel, power assisted ‘Boma’ cycle, which allowed him to complete a 120 mile coast to coast ride back in 2009. His journey was documented and made into a short film, available on the Forum's website, along with stories about other members.

The Forum meets around the UK throughout the year for rides as well as having an active online forum and blog on its own website.

The group isn't only interested in riding - they also campaign on issues such as access, VAT exemption  for adapted cycles, the use of cycles as mobility aids and to help others buy and access cycles for health, leisure and mobility.

If like help finding a cycle to suit your needs or want to meet like-minded companions for a ride, get in touch with the Inclusive Cycle Forum who are always happy to help.
