Cycle commuting is a convenient way for people to fit exercise into the daily routine, and work-related travel by cycle helps ease congestion and is good for the economy and the environment. To help, the Government has introduced a range of cycle-friendly tax incentives for employers and employees.
Commuting to work by bike can save time and money
Employers who draw up a ‘green’ travel plan – a package of practical measures to reduce car use for journeys to and from work and for business travel – do not have to pay tax or NICs on offering staff:
- Cycles and safety equipment
- Workplace parking for cycles
