Currently, Bikeworks is located in a former factory within an industrial estate in Glenrothes and has become a focal point for all aspects of cycling in Fife. It is amazing to see just how far Bikeworks has come in the last few years and particularly in the last year. It originated in a hut!

The driving force and catalyst for this has been the passion, infinite knowledge and drive of George and Agnes who have been responsible for galvanising support from all sectors: Fife Council, businesses, Fife Constabulary, educational establishments, local CTC and numerous cycle-orientated individuals. The amazing factor in all of this is that both George and Agnes are dedicated volunteers.

Bikeworks is now fully established as an organisation with its heart in the symbiotic link between cycling and the environment. Its mission is to:

  • recycle, refurbish and resell cycles;
  • repair and maintain;
  • train: cycle specific and re--employment skills;
  • cultivate cycle-related partnerships

The simple fact is both George and Agnes by their actions are shining examples of volunteering at its best.
