Second Place CTC Volunteer of the Year and Volunteer of the Year for Wales, Tom Wells.

Tom’s nomination is slightly belated as in 2008 Tom stood down form one of his major roles as organiser of the Welsh Festival of Cycling, having been in charge for several years, including in 2005 when it was combined with the CTC Birthday Rides at Bala.

However, this hasn’t stopped Tom also being the Treasurer of CTC Cymru and an active Right to Ride campaigner for the county of Ceridigion.

He has been one of the key figures in keeping CTC Cymru going since it was founded in 1999 and his colleagues recognise that without his huge input so much would not have been possible.

What fewer people know is that Tom has a busy bike shop, a large family, an interest in cycle design and engineering, and has been disabled since his leg was amputated following a road collision on his bike in 1995.
