Easy Riders Cycle Group-Derby
Beginner Ride 2.jpgBeginner Ride cafe.jpg

As part of the UK’s National Cyclists’ Organisation (CTC), Derby’s Cycle Champions Project has recognised the demand for regular cycle rides exclusively for beginners.

This presents an ideal opportunity for you if have just started cycling or have not ridden for a while.

If you have never ridden before, a ‘learn to ride’ session can be arranged.

There are so many reasons why you would want to cycle more. Here are just a few;

  • Cycling is a fantastic way of getting fit and staying healthy. It exercises most of the muscles in your legs and bum – so it’s an excellent way to tone these areas.
  • It burns 300 calories p/hour and gives you a level of fitness equivalent to being 10 years younger
  • 75% of all personal journeys are less than 5 miles long – therefore you can leave your car at home
  • It’s cheap! Bicycles do not require MOT or license and above all - no petrol, and they can be parked for free

We are a group of social cyclists.

Rides leave from different locations around Derby City.

All rides are guided and are a steady leisurely pace.

All rides aim to be suitable for ordinary bikes, tricycles and kiddie trailers (Please double check with Amanda to check for access)

Weather permitting we ride for about 30 - 45 minutes until we stop at a café, pub or tea shop, before returning back to the start.

You need to bring a roadworthy bike with working brakes and pumped up tyres.

Young people aged under 18 should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

There will be a ride at least every 1st Sunday and 3rd Sunday of the month. However during the Summer months there will be more ad hoc rides. Check the calendar for details.

Note: In case of bad weather i.e. heavy rain, ice or snow the ride will be cancelled. Please contact the ride leader on the morning of the ride if unsure.

Skills: Most of the rides will meet at 9.30am with a skills session at the start to improve your bike handling skills and confidence.

What to wear: comfortable clothing and something warm when we stop. Trainers. Gloves are essential in cooler weather.

What to bring: A bike with pumped up tyres and working brakes. Money for parking / cafe. Snacks, drink, maybe a picnic, a waterproof, warm hat in cooler weather.

Please go to the Calendar of Events to find out when the next ride or event is taking  place.
