Welcome to our Cycling for change web site.

CTC is the UK’s leading national cyclists' organisation. We have 70,000 members and affiliates and are the oldest and largest cycling body in the UK. We provide a comprehensive range of services, advice, events, and protection for our members and work to promote cycling by raising public and political awareness of its health, social and environmental benefits, and by working with all communities to help realise those benefits.

As CTC is the UK’s largest national cyclist’s organisation and with the environmental benefits of cycling widely recognised, the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) awarded CTC a grant of almost £300,000 to raise awareness about climate change among cyclists.

This is part of an overall Government campaign of over £3.5 million, involving over 50 separate organisations. The aim is to communicate Climate change issues to new audiences and help to increase awareness of and spark a “grass roots” debate about how we can all help individually and collectively to start to combat the causes of climate change.

Through the pages of this site we will try to help by explaining some of the main causes and impacts of Climate Change. We will look at what we can all do day to day to start to make a difference as individuals and collectively. We will also look at the issue specifically from a cycling point of view. Cycling is a smart choice. Every trip taken by bike rather than by car is good for you and good for the environment. We will give you links to find out more information on key issues, give you contacts if you want to get more involved and keep you informed as to what we are doing at CTC.
