Raise funds for Cycling

The Challenge Rides celebrate the joy of cycling; however, we also run them to raise funds for safer cycling through the CTC Charitable Trust (Registered No1104324).

As the entry fee only covers the cost of the ride, individual rider sponsorship is vitally needed to raise funds for cycling. So far CTC's Challenge Rides have raised over £40,000.

With your support here’s what CTC & CTC Charitable Trust have achieved recently. We've had... 

• Success in forcing a government U-Turn on 40 proposed Highway Code changes.
• Success in changing Scottish law to give cyclists a right in law to cycle freely off-road.
• Success in changing Rights of Way legislation to ensure that a cyclist's right to claim a 'Right of Way' on a restricted byway is safeguarded.
• Success in being awarded a grant by Cycling England to help develop and launch new national standards in cycle training. These help to give cyclists the practical skills and confidence to make more cycling trips in greater safety.
• Success after 10 years of lobbying to legalise the use of flashing lights.

With your support, here are some examples of what the CTC Charitable Trust wants to achieve.

• Change the law on drivers' insurance schemes, to make it easier for cyclists to claim damages from drivers who hit them.
• Change the Road Safety Bill  to make road conditions safer for cyclists
• Introduce a statutory 'duty to drive safely' and reform of offences and sentencing powers for bad driving.
• A joined-up cycle and rail policy
• Continue to raise public and political awareness of the health, social and environmental benefits of cycling. 
• The promotion of educational activities which enable and encourage all communities to realise the benefits of cycling.
