The CTC Voluntary Achievement Awards are for the people and groups throughout the UK and Ireland who deserve the most recognition for their achievements as volunteers. The National Volunteer of the Year receives CTC Council’s highest award for services to cycling, the Arthur Moss Medallion. The Moss award is a polished piece of Portland stone which was presented to CTC by the family of Arthur Moss. Arthur was not only a former CTC President, Chair and Vice Chair but an extraordinary community servant in his home county of Dorset, serving as Mayor of Wareham. The Moss Medallion, and its predecessor the Bird Award, have recognised voluntary achievement in cycling since the 1930s.
Nominated by CTC members or groups, the winners are selected by the CTC Council and the awards presented at the CTC Annual Dinner. A simple nomination form starts the process off, either download the nomination form, obtain a copy from your CTC Member Group or call the CTC helpline on 0844 736 8450. The winners are not just local heroes: reading their stories is an inspiration to anyone interested in cycling; from the local to the national level, and these awards are a just recognition of their achievements.
A new award has been introduced in 2009 in memory of Gordon Selway who was a life-long cycle campaigner: "Local Campaigning Achievement of the Year" recognises any individual or group who has acheived a significant result for cycling in the year and is not limited to CTC members or affiliates.
In 2010 we introduced Young Volunteer of the Year and Youth Project of the Year are for any individual under 20 and any project aimed at young people under 20. Depending on the level and quality of entries we may be able to present additional awards such as regional or country awards or distinguish them by age. However that depends on you - we need you to make the nominations
